About Us

Play is embedded within The Early Years Foundation Stage framework through promoting a play-based approach. Play fosters children’s independence and self- esteem. Developing respect for others as well as offering opportunities for social interaction, supporting the child’s well being, healthy growth and development and a capacity for learn.

At Teddy Bears Playgroup we focus the child’s day around play as well as other activities to support their learning. We offer:

  • Small world toys (cars, trains, farm sets, dolls houses etc)
  • Construction sets (Duplo, soft blocks, Large Lego blocks, Popoids, k-nex, wooden bricks etc)
  • Messy play activities (Cornflour play, painting, water and sand play, play with food e.g. jelly and ice etc)
  • Creative activities (Drawing, sticking, 2D and 3D craft, chalking etc)
  • Role- play and imaginative play (Home corner, post office, shop, hospital, den building etc)
  • Malleable play (Playdough, clay etc)
  • Cooking activities (Biscuits, cakes etc)
  • Play incorporating concepts such as numbers, shapes, colours, sizing, counting etc.
  • Outdoor play (Bikes and scooters, balancing equipment, slides and seesaws, climbing frame, bat and ball games, footballs and hoops etc)
  • Story time
  • Song time
  • Music and movement sessions
  • Parachute games
  • Band time
  • Free expression time (play with ribbon sticks, scarves etc to music/ sounds)
    • Forest School sessions to start our outdoor learning in September 2015
